excellent reference... thanks...

as far as your FWIW, jerry garcia was a far-to-real and actually NORMAL of a human... to be VERY FAR OUTSIDE of ANYTHING... usually, his perspective, to me, seems to be as expected given his upbringing -- i think he was on the high end intelligence wise, but he chose to use his gifts for MUSICAL EXPRESSION -- his viewpoints on everyday issues, like GOD (lol) are usually.... well, acceptable to many parties -- it is part of the genius of Jerry AND the dead.....

so his musical disposition to pursue roots music seems to flow in a perfectly logical way from his beginnings.... but more -- this seems to be at the VERY HEART of the whole psychedelic explosion that came by way of Ken Kesey, The Dead Crew and the whole SF scene which was populated more by people LOOKING BACK as a way of looking forward, a la the Charlatans, et al -- than a bunch of folks with radical ideals.

the dead/jerry believed in a higher consciousness -- but also had a keen understanding of what was the REAL PREDICAMENT of every day life... this is what gave the music depth -- aspiring to great heights, but leading with plain language and well understood allegory ...... IMHO.
